The Odyssey,

a verse translation by Robert Fagles, read by Sir Ian McKellan. It was originally composed to be sung aloud so it should be very adaptable to an automotive presentation.

There is also a companion print edition in case you choose to read the text later. I read AND listened simultaneously and it was really a unique experience. Parallel processing by both brain hemispheres, it was like, bicameral, Dude.

Homer and the Bible are our only surviving documents from Western Man's Bronze Age. Although the latter's Elizabethan English can be beautiful to listen to, it sounds repetitive and stilted to modern ears.
