We can't do anything that might inconvenience rich people. A lot of the "sanctions" that are being proposed would be bad for business as far as many of our "entrepreneurs" are concerned. For example, when the denying to the Russians one of their sources of credit was proposed, business interests on our side complained because it is one of the mechanisms by which Russian pay back the $30 billion in debt they have already accumulated there. And all of those "predatory business practices" the Chinese are responsible for cannot be punished because lobbyists for our business community don't want to lose the potentially infinite consumer market in that country.
