I think everybody already knows that.
I'm sure Putin does.
But don't forget, NATO has already provided a legal framework to send Allied (Western) forces to Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan. I don't think there is anything legally or morally wrong with that, but it can be argued SW Asia has nothing to do with North Atlantic security. Its all about what America wanted to do and how to legitimize it.
Putin saw NATO as a gun pointed at his head and to a certain extent he was right. Whether or not he deserves to have a gun pointed at his head is another question altogether. But he himself provided the answer to that question on 2/24/22.
