Private industry is only in it for the money, especially the short-term profits. They'll sell out in a minute if they figure they can make a quick buck, regardless of the long-term utility or consequences of their product.
Isn't SpaceX the same outfit that's launching thousands of internet comsats even though the astronomers are screaming that they provide a threat to astronomical research, as well as a potential danger for orbital craft?
The only "bright spot" I see is the flare on a big telescope image that has ruined an irreplaceable observation, an expensive telescope time reservation loss, and ever more space junk up in earth orbit.
There's too much Heinlein libertarian hero entrepreneur in this guy for me to like.
