This may not be as bad as it looks. It may just be a statistical blip, an outlier or data anomaly. The Antarctic sea ice is highly variable, although over long terms it is quite stable. This is probably due to the fact that it is continent of mile-thick ice surrounded by a deep ocean, while at the North Pole you have a thin ice crust a few meters thick floating on the sea.

There is an extensive discussion of this at nsidc.org. Yes, there is global warming, but it seems to affect the Northern Hemisphere more than the South. Unfortunately, that is where most of the land, and the people, are.
