The time between groundbreaking and the ribbon cutting for the original WTC was 6 years and 8 months. 6 years and 8 months after 9/11, this would have been May 11 of 2008.
The Twin Towers, maybe with some engineering design improvements, should have been rebuilt as they were. And it shouldn't have taken anywhere near this long.
Still, I'm okay with the current design. It's a damn sight better than some of the crap they were coming up with at the beginning.
