When I have my dog circle...
She always turns to her right, when I try to get her to circle to the left she will do it, CLUMSILY, but will protest loudly that it is unnatural and just WRONG!
She will circle to the left, but will often follow it up by circling to the right immediately afterwards as if to undo the wrongness of a left circle.
