WTF is "the area"? This is the kind of vague statement that pisses me off. How about some meaningful measurement reference? Svartsengi Geothermal Power Plant is about 30km from Reykjavik, and less than 15km from the international airport at Keflavik. Given the nature of this type of volcano (it's certainly not a stratovolcano) I'm assuming they are not suggesting evacuating anyone that distance away.
