"The long standing economic theory...

...as one would expect, preaches precisely what Capital wants to happen: constant growth; that is, ever-increasing markets to sell to, and more and more absolute workers competing for (the relatively) fewer jobs. Cheaper salaries, less trouble with unions, no pressure for benefits and working conditions. Where in the Bible or the Constitution is this written? Did Adam Smith or Ricardo or Marx talk about this? Even if it is true, how could we possibly have known it? These are not Laws of Nature, these are the self-serving opinions of corporate stooges and their lemming-like apostles.

No matter that when no physical system in nature can expand indefinitely without eventually choking on its own poison or running out of resources, the LAWS OF ECONOMICS tell us what we really need is MORE growth. Really?

And what they don't tell you is that constant growth makes for guaranteed inflation, which means loans and interest payments will become smaller in the future. Borrow lots now, pay back less later. Doesn't that sound like an ultimately unstable policy to you? inevitably leads to boom-bust cycles.

And now they want to throw AI in to manage the whole affair? "I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that?"

Why don't we try something else, something that at least attempts to work for stability? In Astronomy, we recognize the inherent stability of the Main Sequence. Once a star wanders off, its days are numbered.
