Seconded. When handling sensitive files, you don't let it out of your sight. EVER. You also don't put it on a computer with internet access of any kind. Even having a connection to a "special" internet separate from the regular one could compromise not only the sensitive files but the whole system, which would need to be abandoned.
And making something we don't have the vaccine to, well that DOES sound like something the US would do.
Y'know, with all the bumbling the US does, we sort of seem like the show monkey of the planet. Except we're a monkey with a gun.
