"Our" taxes? You remember the numbers you force yourself to forget every time I bring them up?
The people making over $250,000 a year (including a large number of businesses) pay most of the taxes. It's something like 70 percent on the Federal level, counting payroll taxes. I don't have exact figures on state taxes, but it seems likely they're picking up a similar share. Same for property taxes
Liberals can wail endlessly about percentages of income, or "tax rates," but the hard fact is that the guy who puts $100,000 into the treasury is paying for a hell of a lot more government services than the guy who puts $100 in, or in far too many cases, nothing at all.
The owners of that factory aren't driving on roads you're paying for. You're driving on roads they're paying for.
There. Now you can forget it again.
For anyone who cares, the numbers are here.
