Meh... always these scares.
The internet may become somewhat crippled, but the only thing that could completely take it down is the next Carrington Super Flare (BEWARE!!!). The tubes will recover, and become immune to this and similar worms through human innovation.
Of course, same human innovation will undoubtedly lead to more crippling of the internet, but that's 'dem breaks.
