Schwartzkopf ran a blitzkrieg on Iraq and another was run by Bush. Bush came into the Federal government with a minority of votes and attempted a dictator-like takeover later (but Ashcroft wouldn't sign).
Hitler was genuinely popular with the German people, much like Churchill and Roosevelt were with English and American.
His ruthlessness trumped all the other qualities of the man, but he shared some with many other people.
