Re: News story and more pictures
Currently, there is a cougar tracking study going on in the county. They've put GPS tracking collars on several of these critters and are watching their movements over several years. Recently the researchers released preliminary results for one of the big cats, and it had quite the range, including a visit to our neighborhood, which is just a few miles from this woman's house.
Remember, it was just a few years back when three mountain lions (two adults, one "kitten") were captured in the yard next to ours. We can always tell when they are about 'cause our otherwise feral cat decides to spend the day indoors under the bed.
They are here all the time. And no, a tall fence won't deter them, they can leap 15 feet from a standing position.
