Violating the First Amendment is done routinely in the US. If you Google "First Amendment violations" you'll find a raft of them.
And I don't think the US government pays any attention any more. I may be too pessimistic but I suspect where they aren't violating the Bill of Rights it's because they don't want to.
As far as I know, "Night and Fog" still exists, with it being a felony to talk about anyone who has been hauled off. Shades of Nazi Germany's "Nacht und Nebel".
