In the next year, a few things look likely to happen.
- The facade they've been desperately trying to hold up in Europe will fall flat, and a lot of things will go south. The Europe that comes out of that will not be the same.
- Iran is well on the way to nuclear weapons. Miniaturized ones that fit on missiles. Anyone with brains has known this for years, but now the Powers That Be in the U.N. and elsewhere have been forced to acknowledge this. Someday ElBaradei's actual role in this fiasco will become known.
- Israel is seriously considering an attack on Iran, and if so, next year will probably be it.
- China's economy is on thin ice, the government basically holding up the financial system. They're looking at a real estate reversal worse than ours was, and a whole lot of un-repayable debt.
That's a short list. All of them things Obama will need to deal with in one way or another, and none of his patented "progressive" solutions have worked yet. He's getting a little crispy around the edges, and more and more of his decisions are being "postponed" until (of course) after the election.
