I could have worded that better. The point was that Democrats seem to spend most of their time in insulated zones (MSNBC interviews, Washington society, etc.) where they don't have to work very hard with their brains because they aren't getting a lot of pushback. Someone like Gingrich would mop the floor with them. If Newt ends up debating Obama, I fully expect the whole "Look at the mean white man picking on the hapless minority guy" to be the talking point of the day.
Heck, all the Democrats have come up with so far in this election cycle is Chicago-style political sabotage, and I doubt that's going to change for the rest of this coming year. When it comes to solid facts, ideas, reasoned arguments, and evidence, Democrats don't have much to bring to the table. Not that I have any experience with that, of course.
