As far as the timing is considered, it was never relevant before. Until Cain entered the arena it was never made an issue. I don't think there's anything suspicious in the timing.
I think there's a qualitative difference between groping an unwilling woman and having an affair with a willing one. The character flaw in the first is much different than in the second.
Cain deserves it, and I'm sorry to see he's gone. Just another example of the kind of person Conservatives will try to foist on the American public. It's all about power, getting somebody, anybody elected no matter how flawed or unsuitable.
