I couldn't agree more with you. What I don't see is any dynamic which will lead to 5% unemployment and/or an increase in the standard of living for the other 95%.
It looks downhill for most everyone except the wealthy as globalization takes a bigger and bigger chunk out of the American way of life. I think there will be a slight improvement over right now, but the trend is South. Literally.
And with the Republicans absolutely committed to blocking anything Obama tries, no matter the merit, no matter what the country needs, no matter what suffering it causes, not much can be done. (And they call themselves "patriots".)
