The machine will handle it, BUT it's considered a "clean upgrade". That means a complete uninstall of the former operating system and then installing Windows 7 AND all other programs.
I suspect one could backup all of that onto something, probably an external hard drive, but that adds another layer of cost and complexity into the process.
Sigh.
