C'mon Tom..capitalism remember?!

What's wrong with a lingerie Barbie?

Have you ever played "Barbie" with a four year old girl?

Those clothes, ANY clothes, come right off in three seconds, exchanged with other clothes. Endlessly. The smaller ones, such as shoes and glasses and swimsuits are never to be found again.

Classy lingerie is not to be feared. If anything it signals a return to "dressing up" which has been absent from popular culture since about 1990.

I do not think that it will mess up the heads of the little girls out there. Having a niece who adores Barbie has made me an "expert."

Have you seen what they sell on eBay? Barbies are customized by folks and sold as OOAK - "one of a kind." Do a search for OOAK and see what pops up! There are Gothic and bondage Barbies that make lingerie Barbie look utterly wholesome. Or look at this! There are way too many Cher conversions - and I really wonder who would pay a hundred and a quarter bucks for a Cher OOAK Barbie?

It certainly isn't a five year old.

Perhaps lingerie Barbie really is for the same folks who pay 50-250 dollars for customized Barbies?

In Europe they would laugh at the USA for being so prude that we're offended by a plastic doll in lingerie.

Let's take it to the ultimate...the bad things this doll is supposed to do....

You think a little girl will act out a bedroom scene with Ken because Barbie is in lingerie?

Will Midge come over as well as Barbie's friend Skipper and all have a lingerie party?

No little girl would act out such a scene and the older girls don't play with Barbies.

You see how preposterous it is. This item is going to be bought by adults for adults or as gag gifts. The average four year old will be grabbing Scooby Doo Barbie or Mermaid Barbie from the shelves - not lingerie Barbie.

If the market purchases it and it keeps employees of Mattel feeding their families and making their house payment- I say go for it - more power to them!

Don't be such a prude Tom! You're a Californian remember?
