But it is a change of subject from something I know a bit about to something I'm less inclined to talk about.
I'm not exactly a lawyer fan. I went thru a messy California divorce where my ex had an evil shark, and I had an incompetent (who I should have sued for malpractice).
And I've been on the other end of the litigation side, as well. My mother's leukemia went undiagnosed for over a year because of an incompetent HMO doctor. He said that she was just getting fat and eating way too much (her spleen was the size of a football and she was starving because of it's pressure on her stomach and the associated nausea). He refused (for reasons I will never understand) to do the rudimentary palpation that would have identified her spleen as the culprit. He only begrudgingly ordered bloodwork, and then explained the odd results as being caused by some infection. When I forced (she was a stuborn lady, sometimes) my mom to see a non-HMO doctor at my expense, his jaw dropped when he felt her spleen. Because of the protections for HMOs, there was no payment for their mistake, no insurance payout, no admission of any incompetence, no apology. And her maniac doctor is probably still inflicting his will on other unsuspecting patients.
She died of it. And, while I can't say that her crappy treatment caused her death, it certainly caused her a lot of unnecessary suffering. And who knows: there are treatments for leukemia now, that were not available to her then. If better and earlier treatment had kept her going for longer, she might have held on long enough for a cure.
Anyway, I'm not willing to play your strawman. Maybe Bowser will step up to the plate.
