<Minimum percentage change since last year in Afghanistan's opium production : +1,000**

Pounds of weapons-grade uranium reported to have been seized in September from a taxi in Turkey : 33

Source: Harpers Index

** What does this tell you??

Makes me wonder who's counting opium productivity.

It also tells me the Taliban squelched opium production by killing everyone in sight, which has always been a quite effective way of dealing with the drug problem. If we took squadrons of C-130s with chain guns to the South American cocaine plantations and simply killed every living thing in a thousand square miles of fields, that would work too.

Is stopping opium production going on the left's list of Great Things Osama Did for the People of Afghanistan?

BTW, the "uranium in Turkey" thing turned out to be a false alarm, which you think someone like Harpers would have been bright enough to know. We also posted on it extensively here when it was happening.
