and agree that the parents are indeed examples of a sick, sad world*. They're even more reprehensible than those who attempted to cash in on the WTC 9/11 settlement money because they shaved the girl's hair and gave her medication to make her appear sick. I have no idea what sort of punishment these parents deserve, but I hope they get reamed to the full extent of the law.

I don't mean to just highlight stories of kids on a rampage, it just happened to turn out that way with the first couple posts in the SSW series. There was another article I saw the other day about a bunch of kids who videotaped themselves apparently raping a drunk 16 year old girl. It would've been a good SSW post. It reminded me of those kids a few years ago who rode around and videotaping themselves shooting people with paintball guns. At first, I though maybe we shouldn't let teenagers have access to videocameras because it seems they act out more when they tape themselves. On the other hand, maybe we should encourage more of them to carry cameras because they so stupidly provide evidence against themselves.

* I got the "Sick, Sad World" title from the "Daria" cartoon's lampoon of reality TV shows. We could put up an entire board for these stories but it would probably be too depressing.
