Someone told me that the missile launchers used in this attack were actually training units, not live missiles. They said training missiles are not armed, have no self destruct, and are biased to miss the target. They also said military sources flagged on the bright blue color of the launchers to ID them as trainers. The article said the terrorists painted them blue to hide serial numbers, which seems a little strange. Why not just scrape them off?

This would mean the terrorists were sold a bill of goods, and were not that bright.

I have not heard this idea at all from any other source, but it would explain a lot, including why the missiles were recovered intact. However, if these were trainers, why would investigators hide that fact? Why would the press? Makes no sense.

Checking this out, but looking for input from the military folks out there.
