If you thought your weather's been bad this week...

Here's the very worst weather in America – and the most dangerous mountain.

Mount Washington, New Hampshire

Currently it’s a balmy 4 degrees Fahrenheit, with 46 mph winds. On Wednesday the temperatures were in the middle 20s below zero and with winds in the range of 90mph!!

More people die on Mount Washington, far more, than any other mountain in America. Living here in Boston we read about the tragic mishaps that occur each and every winter.

Q: What is the maximum wind speed ever recorded on land and when was it?

A: The highest wind gust ever recorded on land using an anemometer was a gust of 231 mph on April 12, 1934, atop Mount Washington, N.H. This wicked gust, generated by a huge spring storm, rattled a special type of wind measuring instrument that determines a difference in air pressure as the wind blows across two holes in it, rather than spinning cups or fins.
