<But doesn't it make you ponder, so many of those professors who have made a life-long study of politics and have a demonstrated expertise in the field don't agree with the anti-diluvian Republican rightest position?
Education seems to be the very thing that leads the educated astray.
Doesn't take much pondering. The wrong viewpoints can pretty much stop an academic career in its tracks. Ask around.
Also, it is a capital error to confuse formal education with intelligence, or even with common sense. While I do know people with several degrees who are indeed quite intelligent and reasonable, I have also known people with just as many degrees who I wouldn't trust to park my car without screwing it up.
Most professors, particularly in the social and political sciences, live highly insulated lives where the only people they have to impress is other professors. At least engineering and scientific faculty have to interact with the objective world at some point.
Universities are heavily populated with ignorance. The students at least have an excuse. That's why they're in school. Professors who promote economic and political systems that have destroyed every nation that adopted them, and teach students to promote them, don't.
This is probably just as inexplicable as most of the people of the developed world seem to be queueing up against Bush?
France and Germany do not comprise most of the developed world, except maybe in their own minds.
