All too often, when a city reporter goes out into the boondocks, they're a lot less sympathetic and understanding than this article. This article talked about how people, many of whom don't have a lot to begin with, are opening their homes to strangers and offering their services for little or no cost. You have to figure that those restaurants offering half-price meals are barely breaking even and may even be losing money on each meal sold. Still, the owners are doing this to help the searchers.
If you watched the news last night, those searchers, no doubt many of them are locals, are spending their days out in the rain looking for debris and remains. Even in Texas, rain this time of year can get pretty damned cold. Those people don't have to do this, that's just the kind of people they are.
