It seems Rumsfeld has Germany's bowels in an uproar again. Just a couple weeks ago, they were upset with his "Old Europe" comment. This was before the leaders of at least 18 European nations came out in support of America, but since they weren't Germany and France, they must not count.
Today, the Germans are upset because Rumsfeld said this during Congressional testimony on Wednesday:
"And then there are three or four countries that have said they won't do anything. I believe Libya, Cuba and Germany are the ones that I have indicated won't help in any respect," Rumsfeld told the House Armed Services Committee.
Excuse me, but what part of that statement is in any way untrue? Germany has said uncategorically that they oppose any war with Iraq. So have Libya and Cuba. It seems the truth must be hitting a little too close to home for some people. Honesty in politics. What a concept.
