The point he makes about the idea of the U.N. being obsolete in these days of instant communications is a good one.

The U.N. has not only outlived its usefulness, but is becoming an active obstruction to world peace and prosperity.

The Left supports the U.N. enthusiastically because it is the last real infrastructure* that promised to deliver the massive world government (under the benign principles of the collectivist Left of course) that has been their wet dream since day one. The potential collapse of this institution will not be received well from these quarters.

*The European Union is their great hope for Europe, but that's pretty much as far as it can go.
