A hospital makes a serious error by transplanting organs of the wrong blood type into a teenaged girl. She will die within a few days.
It's sad for another reason, too. Those organs could well have saved the life of someone else on the waiting list, someone who may well die due to a shortage of organs. From the article:
In the first 11 months of last year, there were just four heart-lung transplants in the country for children between the ages of 11 and 17 and a fifth for a child under 1, the organization's records show. The previous year, there were four such transplants among 11- to 17-year-olds.
"Strip me for parts and burn the rest." Those are the exact words I've told my family regarding organ donation. After I'm gone, if there's anything useful left over, then give them to someone in need. Please consider organ donation.
