I can get away with...
"Sod it" and "bugger it" and most americans will let it pass without even a blink.
Bugger is a strange word. You can use it wherever you can the f-word - noun, verb, adverb, adjective etc - and even in Britain its more acceptable.
"Sod" has more limited usage, but has become so tame I bet the Queen uses it.
It's only when you think about the actions/roots involved that both become more offensive than the f-word.
cheers,
Tony
P.S. let me get in phil's reply first...along the lines of "it's been known for years that the Brit's are far more fond of b-ing than f-ing."
