Those willing to die to protect Saddam obviously have some serious issues. They need to make amends for being some of the heavies to people in their pasts. They are usually unaware of this guilt - yet are driven fanatically by it nevertheless.
They are totally unaware of what processes are occurring.
Some folks would indeed "suicide for Saddam."
The extremity of these folks guilt is mute testimony to the illogic of their present actions. It ONLY makes sense when you can see the karmic balance sheet. Their affinity for Saddam is due to their own similar evil pasts, yet now they feel like they are doing some saintly act by potentially martyring themselves.
Don't feel too sad or too much anger against them. They have to replay their own drastic pasts.
We hope they learn from the experience - but even that's not assured.
It's quite possible their death will spur further hatred and will again become the lashing out 'dictator' they don't see in Saddam - yet see in Bush.
Then their small voice will make them feel guilty again and they will do something smilarly misguided yet again - and the cycle of ignorance, hate and pathos will continue unabated.
When one sees peoples' seemingly insane actions via this larger framework, it makes sense.
