As you point out, conditions are different.

1: The US economy is sinking, fast.

2: The balance of payments is at recard high levels.

3: The national debt is rising faster than ever.

4: The new Republican Secretary of the Treasury says that 2% deficit spending can be tolerated indefinitely, forgoing the fiscal responsibility of the Clinton Administration, and

5: The baby boomers are coming up on retirement.

And some nut wants to spend more billions on a very optional invasion of a country which is no threat.

The Rs are leaving a mess which only the Ds can pick up. They seem incapable of even seeing the problems, yet.

Sort of like global warming.

Go figure.
