I've been doing my own taxes for years, and believe me, the "soak the rich" creep has been obvious. When I first started, there were things like income averaging, and no "floors" under many deductions. All interest was deductable, not just mortgage. Now, the deductions you don't get if your income is above a certain level are legion. I haven't taken a medical deduction in years, nor is my wife eligible for deducting employee expenses, to name just two.
