Dole has nothing to lose and frankly, I think he pretty much has solid facts on his side. (Not seeing the topic list of course)
Clinton is still trying to promote and re-define his image and will have to put his views on the table for disection and comparison to what he has said and done in the past.
If Clinton says something that gets him in hot water, what words will he try to re-define this time?
And what if he ends up alienating core Democratic voters?
Dole really doesn't have to worry about any of that. What could Dole say that would alienate Republican voters? And if he wants a dramatic effect he could respond to Clinton's Point by Countering "Bill you ignorant slut..."
And its more fuel for the conservative talk shows (laugh). Will Clinton tow the Far left party line, or will he do more of the triangulation that worked so well for him while President.
I'd love to see more of this: Both sides given the opportunity to do a Limbaugh-like monolog where each could disect the other's arguments using the available historical record (video tapes, quotes, speech transcripts, party platforms, etc...) as props to support their arguments.
Of course if will fail miserably if all we get is a breif "State of the Union" speach from both sides... It all depends on the format.

I don't know...Dole's political career is pretty much over.
