I don't want you to think that a restrained rant of mine on another
HZ webpage is an indication I'm all scowls and no laughs today.
I can't let the troubles of this world get me down.
A good tonic for it was a rerun of
a very-funny movie I saw again on TV
the other night: "Naked Gun; From the Police Files" (1988).
I love Leslie Nielson playing the part
of the bumbling Lt. Frank Drebin with a deadpan expression. And to see OJ Simpson portrayed as his sidekick violently bouncing down some steep-steps
on a wheelchair in Dodger Stadium onto the playing field below...is priceless (If only it were true!).
The movie's opening sequence where
Lt. Frank Drebin beats the crap out of
those gathered in a conspiracy, including Col. Khaddafy, Yassar(no sir)Arafat, Gorbachev, Idi Amin, Ayatollah Komeini, etc., "look-alikes" ...is hilarious.
Too bad they made the movie in 1988,
and didn't include Saddam Hussein,
OBL, etc., among those getting a whoppin' from
Lt. Drebin (If only! If only!).
Hey! Rent the video-tape, or the DVD disc! You'll laugh so hard...
cheers.
Jake
Saw an "oldie but a goodie" the other night.
