No decimal-based anniversary to commemorate here...It's to commemorate
the fact that the two, one of them being a woman, synthesized & discovered "Kevlar" in 1965.
I don't have any references to indicate
if NASA had any roll what'soever in the discovery, but KEVLAR is now indispensible for spacecraft, etc...

It's especially gratifying to note that a woman was responsible for such a
revolutionary discovery.
Unfortunately, she received little recognition for her achievement in her day; probably due to male-chauvinism.
Let's hope society [especially the science/engineering community] has put such unjust/unfair omissions behind it in this day-and-age.
