Local Troop Support rally

Yesterday, at the corner of Winchester and Stevens Creek. About fifty or more (who's counting?) enthusiastic ralliers, with what seemed to be at least four American flags each.

Most of the types of people who support the Iraqi effort don't have the luxury of hanging out on a corner all day. I didn't, but was just driving through with the wife and kids. My daughter told me to stick our car flag in the window, so we did (looks cooler than the flag sticker on the back of the car.) We drove by, lots of honking and waving. Many other passing cars doing the same, a few also with flags on display. One enthusiastic guy was holding a flag out his window almost as big as his car. We followed him onto the freeway later, and he managed to retrieve it inside the car before it dragged him out the window.

No traffic being blocked at all. When the lights changed, most of them would march across the street at the crosswalks to the other corners, but none were in the street in front of moving traffic. Whole family got a kick out of it.

The San Jose Mercury carried the story today, and to their credit, on the front page of the Local News section, and with a huge above-the-fold picture to boot.

Now I feel bad about the "Bush On A Spike" crack.......okay, I'm over it.
