I don't ‘know’ anything about poetry except the fact that some people take it extremely seriously as evidenced by the many poetry boards on the net.
It seems to me that critical analysis of poems defeats their purpose - The simple conveyance of emotion.
Sometimes the meaning is clear but more often they're open to interpretation. The poem can take on a personal meaning for the reader while remaining in the 'spirit' of the poem.
Have you ever found new meaning in your own writing that you hadn't seen before? Poetry is alive; no need for an autopsy.
The advantage that dead poets have is that no one can be so rude as to ask them what they meant.
Hope you enjoyed your walk.
