Well put
Politics overruled military tactics and common sense in Nam on a daily basis.
Washinton tried to manage the war without any idea of what had to be done.
What a shame that only soldiers appreciate war and recognize its horrors, while the media and its viewers cry out for Rambo and cheer with blood lust.
And, yes soldiers do know what it is to be in battle. There were Rambo types in Nam, they got themselves and their teamates killed. Someone I knew well, who was a true Warrior always said that a true soldier only wanted to finish the job quickly with the least bloodshed possible.
