Before Superman purists get indignant, it should be pointed out that this is only one of many "parallel universe" stories that postulate what would have happened had Superman's rocket landed elsewhere (or elsewhen) other than Kansas. Most have been quite good.
Reminds me of a great Saturday Night Live sketch which postulated that Kal-El's rocket had landed in Nazi Germany. Uberman! (spinning newspaper headline: "Uberman kills every person in England!") That, and detecting Jimmy Olson's Jewishness with his X-ray vision.
