Has Kokh heard of "caisson disease" - acute bone necrosis caused by resorption of the calcium carbonate and phosphate of bones if divers work under pressure for too long?
The only way to survive is to build a pressure vessel within the ice, deep enough to avoid radiation but shallow enough to avoid pressure limits - a city-sized submarine.
