Gold on Mars
Thomas Gold is not a geologist. It shows.
There is no evidence for glaciation on Mars, despite the determined efforts of one of my colleagues and co-authers Jeff Kargel. He *is* a geologist and goes into much better evidence than "big rocks lying around".
The overwhelming concensus is that thew pathfinder rocks were deposited rapidly by a fast-moving fluid system.
(mind you, the overwhelming concensus is still that the fluid was water) :-)
Clearly, I agree with the first concensus but am working to overturn the second.
