There might be pragmatic reasons, also, to visit Mercury.
Mercury has an unusually high "bulk density".
That almost screams out the possibility that
Mercury's crust, or at least part of its mantle may have been exposed, or surface intruded, by humongous asteroid impacts, and may be unusually rich in "heavy metals" like iridium, platinum, osmium, etc,; elements that are rare & hard to find on Earth.
If all the "metal-rich" asteroids are claimed by corporations like NEAP, there's always Mercury.
