Can you actually "see" Neptune?

Ignoring the stupid satirical thing that started this thread... I've actually seen Uranus through a telescope's eyepiece (20 inch Celestron Scmidt Cassigrain(sp?)) but I thought Neptune was of such low magnitude that it could not be seen directly with the eye unless one used an enormous telescope. I observed Uranus as part of a university astronomy course. I photographed some of its moons (13th magnitude) over several days and was able to work out the orbital parameters of three of the larger moons. It was a fun project that won me an "A" for the course.
