Io presents a climate puzzle

http://www.nasa.gov/today/index.html#1037

It basically asks 'why aren't the poles cooler than the equator?

I would say that since it is heated largly from tidal friction, sunlight would have little to do with it. it is almost all heat from the core radiating out to the surface.
