Since the Congress can't face up to and deal with the plain fact that we're losing the commercial satellite launch market, this afternoon we'll get a view of one of the kiey reasons why: Mr. Tumlinson.
Tumlinson will propose solutions to the wrong problem, as there's already too much capacity for small payloads to low Earth orbit. But the PR will be great, and who wants to talk about losing an industrial market anyway?
Tito will talk about a market that does not exist, but it is glamorous to think about people in space instead of industrial decline. I wonder if anyone will ask him about his own investment strategy in the launch market. Not likely...
Dr. Aldrin will naturally come in with an overly long technical presentation on his best design for lowering the cost of launch, which will be too technical for most members, and sadly they won't understand, he'll freeze, and start hurrying his presentation. I'd like to see the representatives talk with him about the future launchers proposed under SLI - perhaps they will, off camera
Oh well...
