Maybe the idea would be to demonstrate that an entire spacecraft can be disassembled, sorted & separated into different materials groups. This could be a demonstration of tasks required for survival & self-sustained maintenance on permanent space bases.

Follow-ons could be refurbishment, melting-down & reforming, re-assigning and manufacturing of devices from recycled spacecraft parts. The melting-down of metallic components for example would have the challenge of heat-management, and control of molten metals in microgravity. Molding, welding and other manufacturing tasks would have similar challenges. The training of astronauts to do this would itself be a giant achievement --> if it succeeds !!!
