Which Netscape?

We QA the site using MSIE5x, Nagivator 4.7, and the new Mozilla browser (packaged badly by Netscrape as "Netscape 6"), the latter two running under both Windows and Linux. Look for posts from "NetscapeVictim"; that's me testing Nag4.7.

The design uses Mozilla as the baseline because it complies pretty well with the standards (~95%), and treats MSIE5 ((~90% compliance) and Nag4.7 ((~10% compliance) as exceptions. We're ahead of you there, Ed. After we get the rough edges polished, the site will be a poster-child for standards-compliance.

It's a real headache trying to make up for the serious deficiencies in Nag4.7--it's so far from complying with standards it's a tragedy--and now that Mozilla's introduced a non-Microsoft browser roughly comparable to MSIE5, nobody needs to suffer any longer with the Nag.

Your description of the problems you're having sounds like classic Nag4.7 hell. I highly recommend that you get the latest browser from mozilla.org. I also strongly recommend that you stay away from Netscrape's disastrously bad packaging of it; get it directly from Mozilla. I'm still trying to clean out all the turds "Netscape 6" left behind after uninstallation; in contrast, the Mozilla installation was smooth and clean.
